Kinja'd!!!

The suspension on my Kia finally settled and now it tries to scrape EVERYWHERE.
I can’t go to half of Mexico’s appartments if I have people or load in back because of the ramp, I can’t go to my supermarket anymore because of the ramp.

UGH... anyway. Met the Maserati’s driver. cool person. Cool !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! seen it before.

I also noticed a new sound on my car, see if you can guess what it is.

Has video right in because I can’t fathom Kinja mobile

How much can a new car’s suspension “settle” in such a short time?

Are you going to have to adjust it to be happy, or are you just kind of bitching on a Sunday night?

Its been driven 1200km, the break in period lasts 1000km.

Man, I’ll have to be very careful with the car. I think I’ll try to get it adjusted eventually. Its not that big a deal, its just that listening a brand new car scraping on a ramp with no way back is just torture on me.

It’s not cool either. Eventually, it will do real damage.

I’ve never heard of settling before. Maybe the bushings or bumpstops, but the springs should be the same height for their entire lives.

Otherwise I’m terrified.

Yeah :(

My ultimate mod for this car would be an air suspension system, not for stancing, but so that in the rain or over ramps I can make the car a few cm taller.

But it would be a great deal of mods for a relatively small gain

Ive seen several GrandTurismos in good order but high miles go for in the very low $20K. Not just one but several in just Houston. A fully loaded Kia Stinger could cost as much as two GrandTurisoms that same body style.

If I’m not mistaken suspensions lose a bit of height as they settle for the car’s weight.

I might be absolutely mistaken, specially since I sorta know Hooke’s law discredits this. But that’s what the people told me around the lunch table.

It’s definitely possible the more I think about it. The springs are usually isolated from the metal by rubber discs/bushings which can take some time to break in, especially if the car just rolled off the line. Shouldn’t be too drastic.

Hmm... Never thought of that, owner would be furious to know that a Korean car is more valuable than that italian steed.

This is a low km example that wasn’t used for years, most of the seals must be dead or dying.

We needeth remember the Mexican car market works in mysterious ways, so this particular one is probably higher buck than that stinger.

Y lo que te ahorras de compra lo gastas en mantenimiento, lol.

Either way the car is too low slung for city driving!

Gotta get some air suspension!

I’m hoping it’s not anything too bad, I’ve only scraped leaving a friend’s apartment with the car fully loaded and at the supermarket. I felt my heart fall each time.

I work for a supplier that makes coil springs, if the suspension has “settled” that much you might have broken springs, or Kia really cheaper out on the quality of supplier and they used shit steel.

Hyundai makes steel, I doubt they had to cheapen out, but a failed part is always a possibility.

You’re scaring me. I’ll have car inspected, but for now, how does a broken spring look like?

it’s, er, broken. a piece of it will break off.

Hmmm... That must be easy to inspect.

Perhaps its just the weight of the car when loaded, but I shall follow oppoadvice as it has never let me down before.

It will literally look like a spring that’s broken. And Hyundai doesn’t make their own springs or steel for the springs. Have the dealership check it out and search online for any similar complaints.

That was my first thought. If there is a substantial amount of lowering in such a short time, I would consider it a warranty issue.

We got an air suspension on our wagon when I was a kid to help with towing the horse trailer. I think it ended up just being more to go wrong.

As any Audi Allroad or Range Rover owner can attest. What else drives around with failed air suspension? Lincoln Mark VIII and Town Car come to mind.

Potentially stupid question: Are you taking these ramps at an angle? The overhangs on the Kia don’t look very long and it honestly doesn’t seem that low, especially in the front.

Kinja'd!!! Spanfeller is a twat > cmill189 - sans Volvo

Kinja'd!!!0

I can’t take them at an angle because they make the ramps tight so that they can save money and space, lets suppose the ramp is perhaps 30cm wider than the car on both ends.

Well, shit. That really sucks. I’d like to see a picture of what you’re talking about, if that’s possible. Just out of curiosity.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the supermarket I’m talking about, the exit ramp looks forgiving but the entry ramp gives you no space to maneuver, this picture makes no justice to the actual wierd bump, it goes up and then down, has a little spike.
